Overview
Smear Pro creates production-safe smear frames — the stretched, multi-image single frames that sell fast motion — with a live viewport preview and a hard guarantee that the rig is never touched. Screen-space smears and sub-frame multiples are isolated onto a ROM-owned duplicate, so the effect is real on the frame that needs it and gone everywhere else.
What it solves
Smears are usually faked by deforming the rig, which is risky and hard to back out of. Smear Pro isolates a face selection onto a duplicate and smears only that, so a single frame reads as speed without ever putting the rig itself at risk.
How it works
- Select the geometry that needs to read as motion on this frame.
- Choose a screen-space smear or a sub-frame multiple and preview it live.
- Commit if it reads, or back out cleanly — the rig is untouched either way.

Which versions of Maya are supported?
Maya 2022 through 2027, on Windows, macOS and Linux. The Qt shim layer handles PySide2 and PySide6 automatically, so the same install works across versions.
Do I need to be online to use ROM AnimTools?
No. Pro licenses carry a 30-day offline grace period. Your tools keep working on set, on a plane, or behind a studio firewall.
What happens to my files if my subscription lapses?
Nothing. Paid features lock, but your pose libraries, brushes, and drawings are yours and stay on your disk. You fall back to the Starter bundle.
Can I use one license on more than one machine?
Yes — Pro includes seats you can activate and deactivate yourself from your account, so a desktop and a laptop are no problem.
