Overview
ROM UV Tool unwraps, reviews and packs UVs with a pipeline that reasons about the model first. An asset classifier and part segmenter work out what the mesh actually is before deciding where seams belong, a three-stage doctor chain repairs the layout, and the packer lays islands out to a real texel-density and padding spec.
What it solves
Automatic unwraps usually cut seams wherever the math is cheapest, then hand the artist a layout that has to be redone. ROM UV Tool plans seams the way an artist would — inner arm, inner leg, back of head — and scores the result, so review is about judgement rather than cleanup.
How it works
- Let the segmentation pipeline classify the asset and plan seams by production convention.
- Run the Shell, Panel and Layout doctors to fix each class of problem in turn.
- Pack islands to an absolute texel density and padding, matching the spec you were given.
- Review the score before you sign off, rather than eyeballing checker maps.

Which versions of Maya are supported?
Maya 2022 through 2027, on Windows, macOS and Linux. The Qt shim layer handles PySide2 and PySide6 automatically, so the same install works across versions.
Do I need to be online to use ROM AnimTools?
No. Pro licenses carry a 30-day offline grace period. Your tools keep working on set, on a plane, or behind a studio firewall.
What happens to my files if my subscription lapses?
Nothing. Paid features lock, but your pose libraries, brushes, and drawings are yours and stay on your disk. You fall back to the Starter bundle.
Can I use one license on more than one machine?
Yes — Pro includes seats you can activate and deactivate yourself from your account, so a desktop and a laptop are no problem.
